Illegal Medicine Destroyed
JP. Hundreds of packages of medicine and traditional herbs of various brands were confiscated and destroyed by Yogyakarta’s Food and Drugs Control officers during its joint operation with the City’s Health officers starting on Monday.
The joint operation was conducted by seven personals at several shops and drug stores in several parts of the city.

A Trip to Snow Mountains
When my family was living in Sydney, we used to go to a place called Snow Mountains because Sydney never has snow in winter. Well, the weather can get very, very cold, and the temperature could go as minus 5 degrees Celsius, but it never snows. That was the reason why we liked going to Snow Mountains.
Our first trip to Snow Mountains was very exciting. We went with a group of foreign students from different parts of the world. We went by bus to Canberra and then we went up to the mountain. And believe me, you need to be an expert driver because the road was rough and wet. We had to go very slowly and cautiously.
Soal 14
Why was an expert driver needed to drive to Snow Mountains? Because ….
| A. | the roads were snowy |
| B. | the roads were slippery |
| C. | it was a comfortable trip |
| D. | there were a lot of accidents there |
| E. | it was the trip to the snowy mountains |
Jawaban & Analisis (klik)
Kunci: B
Teks menyebut jalan “rough and wet” dan harus “very slowly and cautiously”. Jalan basah sangat berisiko licin, jadi jawaban paling tepat: “slippery”.
Analisis opsi:
A: Tidak disebut “snowy roads”; yang disebut “wet”.
B: Paling sesuai dengan “wet” dan harus hati-hati.
C: Kebalikan dari situasi “rough and wet”.
D: Tidak dinyatakan sebagai alasan utama; alasan eksplisitnya “rough and wet”.
E: Terlalu umum, bukan sebab spesifik.
Catatan LaTeX wajib: Jika suhu \( -5 \) derajat, maka \( -5 \lt 0 \), sehingga kondisi bisa lebih berisiko.
Soal 15
“We had to go very slowly and cautiously,” (Paragraph 2). The synonym of the underlined word is ….
| A. | dangerously |
| B. | clumsily |
| C. | carefully |
| D. | anxiously |
| E. | patiently |
Jawaban & Analisis (klik)
Kunci: C
“Cautiously” artinya “dengan hati-hati”. Sinonim terdekat: “carefully”.
Analisis opsi:
A: Kebalikan (berbahaya).
B: Artinya ceroboh/kurang terampil.
C: Tepat.
D: Lebih ke perasaan cemas, bukan cara bertindak.
E: Sabar tidak selalu berarti hati-hati.
Catatan LaTeX wajib: Memilih tindakan hati-hati berarti memilih risiko yang \( \lt \) tindakan lain.
Soal 16
Why did the writer love to go to the snow mountains?
| A. | He was living in Sydney. |
| B. | Sydney never has snow in winter. |
| C. | The weather is very cold. |
| D. | The temperature could go as minus 5 degrees. |
| E. | The way to the mountains was very challenging. |
Jawaban & Analisis (klik)
Kunci: B
Paragraf 1 menyebut alasan langsung: mereka suka pergi ke Snow Mountains karena “Sydney never has snow in winter.” Jadi mereka ingin merasakan/menemui salju yang tidak ada di Sydney.
Analisis opsi:
A: Latar tempat, bukan alasan suka.
B: Disebut langsung sebagai alasan.
C: Dingin disebut, tapi bukan alasan “love”; itu hanya kondisi.
D: Suhu \( -5 \) disebut, tapi bukan alasan utama.
E: Tidak dinyatakan sebagai alasan “love”.
Catatan LaTeX wajib: Suhu \( -5 \) lebih dingin dari \( 0 \) karena \( -5 \lt 0 \).
